Disease - Bacterial leaf blight

Causal organism - Xanthomonas oryzae

Symptoms - This disease is caused by bacteria. This disease develops mostly in areas that have weeds & residues of infected plants. The temperature about 25-35°c & relative humidity is above 70 % fovors development of this disease. The disease develops mainly in rainy season. This disease can occur from the smallest (starting) stage of the plant to maturity stage. Kresek occurs in early stage (Plant withers & dries up). In this disease, the leaves begins to dry from the upper part of the leaves to the middle part.

Damage - In the severe state of infection, the entire leaf gets dried and the earrings remain grainless.

Control - To control this disease, spray 75 g Agrimycin-100 + 500 g copper oxychloride in 500 litres of water per hectare. Spray it 3-4 tmes. First spray on appearing of disease and remaining spray as per needed at the interval of 10 days.

Management - Disease free or treated seeds should be used. Before sowing treat the seeds with 20 g Bavistin & 1 g Streptocycline in 10 litres of water for 10-12 hours. Apply recommended dose of nitrogen & arrange proper water drainage system.
